EIGHTH GRADE RELIGION CURRICULUM
GOALS:
- Students will express a
basic understanding of Jesus, his life and teachings, and recognize the
importance of a personal relationship with him as their Savior and model
for Christian living.
- Students will demonstrate
knowledge and understanding of the Commandments Beatitudes, and Catholic
moral teachings.
- Students will apply
knowledge of Catholic teachings to moral decision making.
- Students will
demonstrate understanding of the structure and images of the Catholic Church.
- Students will trace the
history of the Roman Catholic Church from apostolic times through the
twentieth century.
- Students will choose to
commit themselves to membership in the Catholic Church especially through
the sacrament of Confirmation.
- Students will express
an openness to the Holy Spirit and a deeper understanding of the working
of the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
- Students will share
their time, talent, and treasures in service to the community in response
to the Gospel call.
- Students will
articulate elements of and witness to their Catholic identity.
- Students will accept
human sexuality as a gift from God and will respect all life.
- Students will show
respect for the diversity of prople in the world around them.
- Students will exhibit a
good knowledge of religion and practice appropriate behavior.
- Students will recognize
the importance of God in their life and follow the Church’s teaching.
- Students will practice
Christian values, participate in the sacramental life of the community,
and continue the ministry of the Catholic Church.
