8TH GRADE MATH

Religion  In Chapter 4 the students will study the Gospel of Matthew. Chapter 4 Religion TEST will be on Thursday October 16. There will be no essay questions on this test. Please be sure your child has completed the on-line chapter review as a means of studying for the test. They should also study their notes and highlighted parts in their book.

There is a review worksheet on-line at www.faithfirst.com    Click on the section for Chapter review. We are using the Legacy edition and the title of the book is Jesus in the New Testament. The review offers immediate feedback for the student. I will be sending home the essay questions for the students to complete ahead of time.

7th grade students will be studying the New Testament during the first part of the school year.  We will begin by studying the Covenants that God has made with His people throughout history. This will lead us into the covenant of His Son Jesus Christ and the teaching of the New Testament.

Students will need a spiral notebook for this class. Their Religion book is consumable. I encourage parents to look through the lessons and discuss them with your child.

MATH

7th grade MATH--  Students are studying estimation in multiplication and division. They will also be review the division process. It is important for the students to know their multiplication facts in order to multiply and divide.

We will be using calculators this year so please be sure to get one soon. The preferred type is a scientific calculator-- TI  30 XA. Be sure to keep the instruction booklet. All students need a pencil pouch and an accordian folder for organization. Be sure to put your name on all of your supplies.

8th grade MATH -- Students are studying how to write equations and inequalities based upon written statements. This is important to learning how to solve word problems.

TUTORING:  As math becomes progressively more difficult some students may have trouble keeping up. I will be available to help
students most mornings 7:25--7:40 or after school 3:05 -3:30. Students are welcome to drop in each morning with permission from the
office. Students planning to stay after school should let me know during the day so I know they are coming.  If I  find that many
student are having difficulty with a concept, I will reteach that concept.
