The Week Ahead: Reading
            Story set:  Starting Thursday, 10/02, The Ugly Duckling/Duck       

                    Target skills of the Week: 
                                          
Reading:  Compare and Contrast
                                           Phonics:  Long a;  Inflected Endings  -s, -es, -ing 
                                           Oral Language:  Give directions
                                           Writing:  Nouns
                        "Family Times" is the Parent booklet that is used with our story set.   Please see it for
                        activities to do each day with your child, and a game to play.

Math     Chapter 2  Place Value to 100
         In Chapter 2 children will:
    <>                 *read and write numbers through 100.
  •                     *compare and order numbers to 100.
  •                     *identify even and odd numbers and skip count to 100 by 3's and 4's.
  •                     *solve problems by using logical reasoning.
  •    We'll be finishing Chapter 2 this week. 
Please use the Chapter 2 parent letter to ask your child about key words and concepts.  

  Social Studies
      Unit 1,  Family Ties, use words:  history, traditions, community, neighborhoods, suburb, relatives, ancestors
                                          
  Religion  Chapter 14, "God's Forgiving Love"

Parents: How we do Poetry Journal                                                                                Please be sure to sign the
             1.   Students cut out and glue in the poem of the week                                    Yellow homework book
             2.   Students copy the poem, just as the poet wrote it, and                               every night after your child
                   decorate the page.                                                                                       shows you finished work. 
             3.   Students read it to 5 people, in person or over the phone.                          
             4.   That person hearing the poem signs the page.                                                  
             5.   It's due the next day!
