All coaches must attend at least 3 Athletic Association meetings each year. At least attend the meetings during the season that you are coaching. The lay director will cover important information during the meetings.
1. Coaching to Make a Positive Difference
All Coaches are required to complete this program. This is not a requirement for high school volunteers. You have a choice of attending the 2 1/2 hour session in person or the online class. This certification is required for all sports. You will be assigned a Coaching ID number after your completion of this program.
For reservations to a live class, contact Bill Bommarito of Coaching Concepts at 314-909-0500.
To start the online test: https://els.coaching-coaches.com/user/register?regcode=cycstl
2. Protecting God’s Children
All volunteers 18 years or older must attend a "Protecting God's Children Workshop" given by the Archdiocese of St. Louis before working with minors. For a list of upcoming sessions, and to register "Click here..."
3. Missouri Family Care Safety Registry Background Check
You must be registered with the State of Missouri and undergo a background check if you are no longer in high school. Contact your parish/school safety coordinator to determine their requirement for registration.
If you are responsible for registering online, then go to: http://www.dhss.mo.gov/FCSR/
Once registered, contact your safety coordinator and they will run the background check.
4. Code of Ethical Conduct for Clergy, Employees and Volunteers Working With Minors
All coaches/volunteers not in high school must read the handbook; then the last page should be signed and returned to the safety coordinator. This is your commitment to the Code of Ethical conduct.
If the volunteer is still in high school, then the code of ethical conduct is different but a signature is required.
See http://archstl.org/files/field-file/2013codeforyouth.pdf for the form.
