LITURGY COMMISSION
Since Vatican II, the entire faith community has been given the
responsibility for planning and implementing the liturgy that celebrates the life,
death and resurrection of Jesus. The overall purpose of the Liturgy Commission is to
provide opportunities for the spiritual development of each member of the community
through the planning of, preparing for and participating in liturgical celebrations.
Such celebrations include the seasons of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter and other
special times during the Church's year. Any parishioner who is of high school age or
older is welcome to join.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Eucharistic ministers assist in the distribution of
communion at Mass and are encouraged to bring communion to homebound
parishioners when needed. To become a Eucharistic minister, a parishioner needs
to be at least 19 years old, be actively involved in the parish, be recommended
by the pastor and be approved by the Archdiocese. The community of St. Paul has
need for individuals willing to serve in this important ministry.
LECTORS
Lectors proclaim the Word of God and commentators direct the congregation
and give announcements at the celebrations of our liturgies on Sundays and Holy
Days. Any parishioners of high school age or older who has a good speaking voice
is invited to join this ministry. Individuals are needed for all Masses both as
regulars and as substitutes.
SERVERS
Servers assist at all the parish liturgies. Any boy or girl who is a
member of St. Paul Parish, has completed fifth grade and is enrolled in a
religious education program is welcome to join this important ministry. Training
sessions are scheduled during the winter months between the feasts of Christmas
and Easter. There is also a program at St. Paul that encourages families to
serve at the parish weekend liturgies. Any family or individual who is
interested in learning how to serve is asked to call the rectory for
details.
GREETERS
In our Parish Mission Statement there is a phrase that states that we as
a community will, through celebration, experience and spread the Gospel message
of love. The ministry of hospitality offers all parishioners the opportunity to
welcome one another as we gather for our celebration of the liturgy. All that is
required is a smile, a cheerful greeting and about 15 minutes in the vestibule
before Mass. Families, singles, youth and senior members are all invited to
participate in this joy-filled ministry.
USHERS
Ushers greet and assist those coming to Mass, oversee the collection of
offerings, assist with the orderly reception of communion and handle any
emergency that may arise during Mass. Parishioners, at least 18 years of age,
are needed to serve as regular ushers at some Sunday Masses and as substitutes
for all weekend and Holy Day Masses.
ART AND ENVIRONMENT
Members of this committee are responsible for the
decorations in the church such as: the banners, flowers, seasonal displays, etc.
Anyone willing to lend a helping hand, especially as preparations are made for
the seasons of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter, are most welcome.
CATHOLIC WOMEN OF FAITH
The Catholic women of Faith group (formerly known as
“Mothers of Young Children) invites every woman of
the parish to take part in a journey to gain a deeper insight
of their faith and spirituality through a combination
of Bible/Catechism study and spiritual support from
fellow “women of faith”.
Meetings are held in the Parents’ Room on the 1st and
3rd Fridays of the month from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
(September through May). If you are interested but unable
to attend every meeting, please know you are welcome
to participate in any meeting your schedule can
accommodate.
During the meeting, we offer a special program for preschoolers,
3-6 and babysitting for children under 3 in
their own separate gated area.
MOTHER'S CLUB
The basic objective of the Mother's Club is to unite all
mothers of the parish in fellowship for the purpose of providing for the many
needs of the students. Other objectives including maintaining and
fostering communication between the parish organizations. The club is
involved in several social events including Fund-Raisers - Fall Sale, Trivia
Night, Auction. The Mother's Club sponsors and supervises school
activities including Catholic Schools Week, Jump Rope for Heart and homeroom
holiday parties. Financial assistance for the Art Partners Program is the
main program they sponsor. The Cheer committee takes care of cards and
flowers in cases of a birth, illness or death in any of the children's
families. The Christian Service Committee responds with meals for
families who are experiencing hardship due to a prolonged illness. This
committee also provides for a funeral luncheon when there is a death of an
immediate family member of one of our school children. The club also
contributes to Birthright and helps with various projects sponsored by the St.
Vincent de Paul Society and other parish organizations Meetings are held
on the first Mnday of each month (except June, July and August) at 7:00
p.m. in th church basement. Membership is open to all mothers of the
parish who have children enrolled in the PSR Program or St. Paul Elementary
School.
